CardSlingers is an innovative way to teach card games in general and rubber contract bridge in particular. It is a video game based on the first chapter of the ebook Simplicity Bridge by author Chris Hasney.
CardSlingers is designed to introduce young people to our wonderful game of bridge. While it can be played by anyone who can read, it is aimed at a youth market. But the cool thing is that it will be brought to that market absolutely FREE.
CardSlingers can be downloaded as an executable file or a zipped file to your computer where you can play it anytime (but don't do it in class or at work or we'll all get in trouble). Please submit feedback to my blog at chris.bridgeblogging.com under the CardSlingers thread.
This game was created by college students for course credit. It is programmed using Game Maker (www.yoyogames.com). We believe it to be safe to download and play.
There are some glitches with the game, and there was insufficient time this semester to complete the final battle sequence. We hope to have that corrected in beta 0.2. Your feedback will be very helpful as well.
Please note that CardSlingers runs best on Windows operating systems. Unix-based systems may have challenges running this software, even when using a WINE-style Windows emulator. We plan to address this in future versions.
